Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
Instructions
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
Cream the Butter and Sugars:
In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. This usually takes 2-3 minutes.
Add Eggs and Vanilla:
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then, add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
Add Dry Ingredients to Wet Ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can lead to denser cookies.
Fold in Chocolate Chips:
Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the cookie dough.
Scoop Cookie Dough:
Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may still look slightly soft, but they will continue to set as they cool.
Cool on Baking Sheet:
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
